About seventy years ago there lived a man near St Johnston named Mr Cunnigham.

About seventy years ago there lived a man near St Johnston named Mr Cunningham. His wife was very bossy, so one day she came into the byre and began bossing the servant man. He did not like this, so he said he would put that out off her head.
Next day when she came into the byre, all the manure arose and lit on her. So ever after she could not come into the byre.
At last they took the roof off the byre to put on a new one, and they discovered six white sods, and after that no manure arose.
The servant man left the spell with the sods.
