About one mile from my home lives a man named Joe Knox.

About one mile from my home lives a man named Joe Knox.
About three years ago a wonderful occurrence came upon his home.
Everywhere around his yard stones were flying, and no one could see anyone throwing them, and if anyone went into the yard the stones went humming past them but never struck them.
At last the guards were called out to see what was the matter.
When the guards were arranged at their posts waiting, the sergeant saw a little man running across the foot of the garden. He tried to lift his gun to fire at the little man, but he was powerless, so the man disappeared into the bushes.
It is thought a spell was put on the house by a servant girl who was maid there.
