  1. They began to wear boots in former times when they were grown up. When they were going to Derry they tied the laces together and took the boots around their necks, and when they went to Teenan's Corner they sat down and put on their boots. The children go barefoot in summer at present. Boots and shoes are not made locally. There is no shoemaker in this district, there was one many years ago. The nearest shoemaker is in the village of Muff, about two miles from this school. The reason why there are not so many shoemakers now as there were in former times is that in former times the people had to get their boots made with
