    A stout rebel he, she a blushing colleen.
    And Mary O Mara and Maurice O Gara often danced with light hearts here at the eve on the green.
    Young Maurice O Gara had fought by the barrow
    And weilded a pike in the town of Ardee,
    And Mary O Mara was straight as an arrow and the prettiest maid on the banks of the Lee.
