  1. My home is in the townland of Stranagarvana in the parish of Ballinaglera in the Barony of Dromahair. There are sixty eight people living in my townland. The family names most common in my townland are Gilmartins. There are three slated houses in my townland. Stranagarvana got its name from rough land. The people over seventy years living in my townland are Hugh Gilmartin, Stephen Mc Gourty, Margaret Mc Gourty, Pat Mc Hugh, Mary Gilmartin and Honor Gilmartin. These people understand some words of Irish. Houses were more numerous long ago than now. There are many houses now in ruins. People emigrated from here to America in former years. The townland is not mentioned in any song or saying. The land is hilly. There is no wood growing in this townland.
