- (continued from previous page)There was a teacher called Healey who taught three days in Clerhanmore and taught three more in Drumristron. He was known as Sparkey Healy.
- Candles were made from rushes The rushes were peeled and dipped in Tallow or oil.
Soap was made from tallow + a mixture of soda and lime. The mixture was boiled until it became plastic. Then it was allowed to cool and to form a solid. It was cut then in bars.
The wool was prepared for spinning by carding. when the thread was made it was coloured by moss from stones. The moss was put in water - the thread was the put into the vessel & all boiled together. Colour - nice brown.
Leather was made at home also.
The hides were scraped to remove fat & hair They were soaked in lime water to loosen the hair. They were soaked in(continues on next page) - Informant
