  1. Patrick Ryan of Drumnafinnila gave the following story o I believe he is the man who was asked to carry the corpse.
    He was coming from the mountain late in the evening after spending the day on it herding cattle.
    He heard voices in the mountain but he thought that they were people going to the fair in Drumshanbo. He hurried to go home but the voices came nearer to him.
    He hid behind a ditch and to his great surprise a large number of people passed four of whom were carrying a coffin.
    They laid the coffin on the ground and began to argue as to who was to carry it.
    A voice said "who" but Pat Ryan.
    Another voice whispered to Ryan as he was about to lift the coffin saying "Do Not"
