    Similarly the cure of cancer, headache and strain.
    As regards strain, the secret of the cure is in a string. The string is tied in a button hole - it must be conveyed in that position to the sufferer otherwise it has no effect.
    Tie string around the hand or foot.
    Gooseberry thorns 9 in number if pointed towards a sore eye saying "In the name of the father etc and three Hail Mary's will cure the sore.

    Cures are made on Monday and Thursday.
    Tuesday and Saturday are unlucky days for beginning work such as ploughing, house building or changing from one house to another. It is considered unlucky to plant potatoes on Holy Thursday or Easter Monday.
    People in this area plant potatoes(first planting) on Good Friday.
    The last days of March and the early days of April are considered the "Days of the Old Cow" because of their harshness.
