- The only Irish tale told locally is that Sheemore is supposed to be the burial place of Finn Mac Cool. It is also said that Finn threw the rock now called Sheemore from the centre of Ireland.

Flour was made locally.
Querns were used.
Afterwards a mill was built.
Potato cake was made and is still made from boiled potatoes and flour baked on a pan.
Boxty is still made from grated potatoes boiled potatoes and flour. No milk was added to above.
