    A bottle of poteen was presented to the couple who reached the groom's house first.
    The last event was the "Bride's drink" given after the first mass attended by the newlywed couple.

  2. A Priest called Fr Ambrose Cassidy a native of Co Cavan was on his banishment in this district with a price on his head in the year 1827.
    He was in hiding in a house now owned by Patrick Loughlin Cleihranmore.
    The Captain of the yeoman was Robert Peyton Cornamuckla.
    When Peyton's wife discovered her husband's intentions she made up her mind to help the Priest.
    One night when the yeoman was assembled in her house she went out through the window and went to the Priest.
