  1. It is said that the house
    leek is a cure for sore eyes.
    A pinch of soda is good for a
    heartburn. Another good cure of it is
    to place the tongs (in) red hot milk
    and drink that milk.
    The soup of a hedge-
    hog is good for the chin cough.
    The old people consider that nettles
    and the foam of milk is good cure
    for a burn.
    A scorch of a nettle is cured
    by rubbing a dock-leaf of the part
    effected.
    If a sprained ankle is washed
    where three waters meet it is supposed to
    cure it.
    Donkey’s milk boiled is a good
    cure for yellow jaundice.
    If a person
    walks on the “fóidín mearbhaill” he should
    turn his coat inside out so as to get
    home.
