  2. In olden times it was an old custom when a person wanted a reduction of rent he had to bring his case to court.
    On one occasion a man named Timothy Crowley brought his case to court. A valuer came to see Crowley's land. The valuer had bad feed, and as they were going through a dirty gap, Crowley went first. The other man was a long time about getting out as he had tender feet.
    Then Crowley shouted "If your heart is as tender as your feet, I will get a good reduction in my rent".
