    The goal-posts used were long poles with a rope for a cross-bar. The Annaduff team were called the "Young Irelands" and Bornacoola the "O'Neills". About two hundred spectators witness the match and were admitted free of charge.

  2. The bread used in olden times was made from rye, wheat, and oat meal which is grown locally.
    The people in this district remember grind stones and querns. The querns were used for grinding the wheat into flour. Querns are very common in this district.
    The boxty was made from potatoes, flour and milk, soda, and salt was also added.
    The people baked their bread daily and a cross was made on the top of each cake. The bread was baked on a griddle and this griddle was placed on the coals like a pan.
