The juice of a root called eye-bright is a cure for sore eyes.
Cob-web and a weed called slánlus were cures for a cut.
Mutton-suet is a great remedy for stiff joints by rubbing it in before the heat of the fire.
An animal with a joint out of place or, an affected spine, is supposed to be cured, by twopence worth of the following: Dragon's Blood, Barrel Pitch, and Burgundy Pitch. These should be melted together and placed on a cloth and then stuck on to the affected part of the animal.
By boiling the flowering yarrow and drinking it, it will cure rheumatism.
A little blue stone and slack lime made into a paste will cure foot-rot in an animal.
Blue stone dissolved in hot water is a great cure for "tethers" in calves.
