    There were many heroes in this district, in olden days, one of the greatest of whom was Jeremiah Twomey. He lived in eastern Tureencahill and was supposed to be the best runner in the south of Ireland. One day Dan Moynihan of Gneeveguilla sent for him and his dog to course a hare. They put up the hare at Banard and Twomey ran after the hare and the dogs till they captured him at
