  1. The best kind of eggs to set are round eggs. The best kind of a hen to set is a hen about a year old. The best day to set a hen is Wednesday and the best time of the day is at nightfall. A great sign to have a stranger come is to see two hens fighting. When the tide is ebbing it is the best time to put a hen hatching. When you hear a hen clucking it is a sign of rejoicing. When you see hen's biting themselves it is a sign of rain.
