  1. Long ago there was a man named Michael ["Micky the Clerk"] Sullivan who lived at Ardea. He was employed by the parish priest Father Barrett. He had no learning. The priest got suddenly sick on Sunday morning. Michael was sent to Lauragh Church to tell the people that the priest got sick and they would have no Mass. It was about twelve oclock when he arrived with a horse and a side car. He told the Clerk Charles Macarthy to tell the people that they would have not
