  1. There are a number of goláns in this district.
    There is one on our farm a Keelcoulaght and there is another in one of Michael Doona's field at Shanara. These two golans can be seen from the public road. There are a few inscriptions on each of those two goláns resembling v and n and a number of straight strokes There are a few holes in each of these goláns. The people of the district say that those goláns were thrown by giants from a place called Cloc Fionn. There is a Ogham stone in Mrs Horgans field at Brookhill. The field where the ogham is, is supposed to be an old burying place where the people used to be buried in the olden days. This ogham is supposed
