  1. Nearly all the people in this district can tell by means of special signs what kind of weather we are going to have. They say that if the sun goes down red and clear in the evening that the weather is going to be fine, but if it goes down with a dark cloud over or around it we are going to have bad weather.
    Signs of rain.
    A big dark cloud covers the sky in the west. A rainbow goes across the sky. A dark halo appears round the moon. The cat turns his back to the fire. The sea birds come in flocks to the dry land. The soot fall down the chimney. The dog tears up the grass with his paws. The dust rises off the road. The midges are very busy. The cricket sings sharply. The River Gadach makes a roaring noise around the cliff. The mountains appear very near. The road is covered with ??.

    The night is very calm but cold and the sky is very blue and the stars
