  1. Ye lovers of the manly art
    Attention for a while
And I'll sing to you the praises
Of the son's of Erin's Isle.
    That Irish man so bold,
    Who nobly fought and conquered,
    And his country never sold

    In gay old Dublin City
    Young Dan Donnelly was reared,
And by the famous Captain Kelly
For the Ring he was prepared,
And he did sail o'er to Britain's shore,
    His courage to extol,
And he tore the wreaths of laurels
From the brow of galiant Hall.

When Hall he met Dan Donnelly
It's this to him he did say,
"You'll never more see Erin's Shore,
    Your life I'll take today"
    "There's not a man on England's shore,
    Today I do regard,
Don't crow too high until you try,
So now put up your guard".
