- In old times the ropes were all made of twisted hay or straw. A man named Bob Blake of Sherrymore made ropes and sold them at 1/4d per two yards. Some people in our district make them for their own use. These the made of straw or hay.
Some people would not buy the manufactured rope in the shops.
