    Long ago the married couple who were held in honour and respect were "hauled home". Those who attended the wedding raced on horses home to the bride's house. The winner of the race got a prize, or a pint of whiskey.

  2. Match making do frequently take place in this district. Some years ago it was customary in this district for a young lady to be betrothed to a man, without ever seeing him.
    The parent's met and made all arrangements. A sum of money was handed over the the bride's parents, to the young man, after the proposal was made.
