  1. About 50 years a go there lived in Kilmacow a strong man named Martin Cristopher. One day when he was only a boy he was walking along the bank of the Blackwater with his father they saw a big portion of a tree which was brought down by a flood. He said to his father that it would make a good firing but his father said they couldn't bring it home because it was too heavy. But the son asked him to cut off the branches and he would bring it home. His father did so and was amazed to see his son lifting a log which he or any other man couldn't lift.
