- One moonlight night a man named James Kinsella was journeying up the Ballydaw road. He was walking along when he heard the sound of footsteps behind him. Looking around he saw a funeral coming after him and he stepped in towards the ditch to let the funeral pass. It was the custom at that time if anyone met a funeral to put a shoulder under the coffin and help to carry it. He was about to do this when a hand pressed him on his knees which meant that he was not to help carry the coffin. He followed it till it reached a Coreen leading to an old church-yard. Then he let it pass by and went on his way home. As he went along it suddenly struck him that he had some time previously attended the funerals of those who were carrying the coffin.
