    Pain in Side
To cure a pain in the side hot plates were usually applied or a poultice of linseed meal or sometimes yellow meal.
    Cleas na bpéiste.
When an animal got a pain in the olden times it was believed that if they worked "cleas na bpéiste" over him that he would be cured.
This was done by making three knows on a piece of twine - the knots were not tied tightly. Then the twine was opened by twisting the ends of it in and out through the knots. If this were done successfully nine times after each other the animal was cured.
