    If the horizon - over towards Kerry or away to the south - is very clear so that you could make out objects very far away it is a sign that we are near a change. It is only on a fine day you can see far away like that, and the plainer you can see and the farther you can see the surer you can be that there will be rain the next day.

    If there is a very wide current running in the Sound this a good sign of the weather. Similarly, if the current is very narrow it is a bad sign.
