    on top to keep it in that position. When the cow puts her head between the sticks they are slided together and the iron is placed on top, leaving the cow, with her head inside the stall and unable to take it out.
    The stable
    is the house in which the horse is kept. It is cleaned every morning and fresh rushes or straw is put in it. The horse is shod about once in three months but if he is not working hard he need not be shod so often. The horse is clipped once a year and it is usually around Christmas this done.

    Nearly all farmers keep about a hundred hens and chickens are hatched every year. The
