    The smith makes ploughs, harrows and gates but he does not make spades, shovels pikes or axes now. The only forge work carried on in the open air is the shoeing of wheels for carts. This is done near the river which flows near the forge and the water used to cool the wheels is the river-water.
    The forge is always a great centre for news and stories as when three or four bring their horses they tell each other news which causes it to travel quicker.
    The Bellows
    is a very useful instrument used in the forge. It is used to blow the fire and make it light faster. It is made of timber, lead and leather. In
