St Stephen's Day is the day after Christmas Day. On this day men and boys gather in bands. These are called wren boys as they hunt the wren and place him on top of a pole beautifully decorated with ribbons. The wren boys are also dressed with ribbons of various colours and they are mostly in disguise. They take horns which the blow as they near every house. They sing the following wren song:-
    The Wren, the wren
    The King of all birds
St. Stephen's day he was caught in the furze.
    And although he's little
    His family is great
    Rise up young ladies
