People in olden times had but three scanty meals a day and working a few hours in the morning before eating breakfast which consisted of skim milk and stirabout potatoes as it usually called was used for supper again. Very little meat was eaten except by very rich people. Fish only was used on St Patrick's Day. a small amount of meat at Christmas. and eggs were used in abundance on Easter Sunday.
