- Up to ten years ago a monthly cattle fair was held in Mullinashone. It was discontinued owing to bad travelling facilities there being no railway convenient to the village. Ballingarry monthly fair has also been discontinued, but a quarterly fair is held.
Buyers still come to the farmers houses and good cattle are often sold on the roadside when on their way to the fair. Buying of cattle at the house is called "hedging". Luck money, known as "luck penny" is given, and is calculated according to the value of the animals sold. If there is no "luck penny" it is said to be "clear to pocket".
