- Cromwell is supposed to have passed through Cappanagrane, and while viewing the country from the top of Cappanagrane hill is supposed to have said: "Isn't it a country worth fighting for". He is supposed to have fired at the "Pound", the old ruin in Carrick St, Mullinahone and to have put two holes in it.
- People believed when a child was thin and delicate that he was "with the fairies".
"Where were you last night?" often jokingly said to such children. Many people would not allow children to play near a fort after sunset.- Informant
