About 80 years ago there were rush candles and resin candles made in this townland.
There was a pottery in Derrycassan at a place called the Crockers' Well. The people who carried on the pottery were called Cranstons.
Nearly all the people in Derrycassan used to burn limes in olden days.
There were great thatchers about 70 or 80 years ago. Two of them were James Flood and Cat Hanlon. They lived in Derrycassan. They used to go round thatching every house.- Collector
