  1. He is known locally by the name of fairy. He is very, very small. He is dressed in a little red jacket, with a little red cap on his head. He lives in a fort. His usual occupation is shoe-making. There is a story told of local people who caught him and wanted him to give up his gold. They didn't succeed.
    Yes, the leipreachans have taken revenge. I have heard of a boy who was setting potatoes when he saw a little fairy. He ran after him and caught him. He brought him home and wanted him to tell him where he had his gold hid. He told the boy he had no gold. The boy said he had gold, and if he wouldn't tell him where it was he would burn him. The fairy then told the boy there was gold under a heap of stones in the potato-field. The boy let the fairy go then, and went to look for the gold, but when he looked under the stones there was no gold there at all, so he never saw
