  1. There is a holy well at Lough Gowna. People say that Father John Flood blessed it. He was a priest living in this parish. He is a number of years dead, and was buried at Purth Church, where a marble headstone marks his grave.
    If you had a toothache, and visited a holy well three times the toothache would go.
    The well belongs to James Flood now.
    If you had a sore finger, and dipped it in the well three times the sorer finger would get better.
