On Chalk Sunday, which is the first Sunday in Lent, people who are not married before that day, get a mark of chalk on their backs going to Mass.
On Whit Sunday and Whit Monday it is said that people should not go near water.
If onions or garlic are planted on Good Friday there is said to be a cure in them.
Hallow-eve night is sometimes called Pookha Night. All children play games on that night.
On St. Stephen's day and night boys dress up and go out gathering money to bury the wren.
If children go barefooted on Good Friday there is no danger of getting a cold during the year.
