- Get a piece of timber about 3 ins. cubic. Dress it to a point, and round the sloped surface. Cut grooves around it. Mak a spear of wire or nail. Cut off about an inch of pointed end of nail. Make a narrow hole at pointed end with a small gimlet or burn it in. Then drive nail. This would be a pegging top.
- Get a piece of elder. Clear out pith. Get a piece of rod almost as thick as the hole in elder, & slightly longer than elder. This is the ram-rod. Get a piece of paper. Chew well, and force with ram-rod thro the(continues on next page)
