- In the townland of Ballyhorgan there is a forge owned by Patrick Kirby and the other in Mouncoal owned by Canty. Kirby forge is covered with tarbarls and Canty's forge is covered with felt. The implements of the forge are hammer, sledge, rasp, punch, pincers, chisel, vice and anvil. There is one fire place and a bellows in it. The two forges are built longside a stream. The doors of it are wide and high.
