   I held the walls of Limerick not for a steward king
   But for Erin's land and [?], I that battle guage did fling.
   Great jingling bands of burglars that lay by Shannons side
   There in that breach I nobly stood where heroes fought and died.
   For days the guns of Billy piled the walls with shot and shell and mine replied unerringly and many a grenideir fell.
   But soon the victory of the Boyne proved their boast untrue.
   To take the town by storm roast apples wouldn't do.
   And messages sent to Dublin town to fetch a battering train
   But Limerick's wall it never reached
   Near the Shannons lovely plain.
   It was with 500 fearless men to meet it I did ride. It guards I slew and mortals blew on Ballyneety
