    They were playing away on the cards and Will was there in the bed and not a stir out of him. Another man named Tom Doyle came in tothe wake at about half-past eleven o clock and he was also as drunk as seven lords. He came in and he stood in the doorway and he looked in at the boys and they all playing the cards and he began to laugh. "Begor" says he "yous are doing it fine but why don't yous give poor Will a hand?" The boys playing the cards said they had not thought of that but they would give him a hand now. So they dealt out the cards again and this time they stuck five cards in Will's upturned fingers. It was "Nap" that they were playing and the first man said that he was going three. The next man said that he was going four, and the next caller on the round was Will. The boys all then asked Will how
