- In Pagan Ireland before the coming of Saint Patrick Ireland was full of small
people known as fairies. These fairies were supposed to be able to undo works of great wonder. We are told in many legends that these people disappeared to forts bringing all the money they could collect with them.
The forts resemble a huge mass of stone. Sometimes a whitethorn bush grows at the back. Forts are usually situated on a hill or the foot of a hill.
