- It was in the bad days when the people of Ireland were crushed and oppressed as no race on earth were, that there dwelt near the little village of Athlacca in Co Limerick a cruel tyrant called Ormsby. A man so cruel or heartless could hardly be found in that age of terror and oppression.
Sad indeed was the fate of the poor people who in any way displeased him. One day as he sat smoking in one of the magnificent rooms of his castle, the smoke from a local shoemaker's house wafted into his presence, by a slight breeze. In uncontrollable rage, he sent an order to the shoemaker _ O Donnell, to have his house knocked down before morning.
As the eastern skies became silver grey, O Donnell was rudely wakened from his sleep by a loud tapping on the window. He called to his wife and said get up they have come to knock it down.
However it was Ormsby's coachman who said in a voice of illconcealed joy. What will you give me for good news. Ormsby is dead so your house can stand.- Bailitheoir
