Food in Olden Times (ar lean)
“Long ago the people ate three meals a day.”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)On Easter sunday everyone in the house would get as many eggs as they would like to eat.
On St Patrick's day everyone would get Lemonade etc.
When tea was first uses in this district the people didn't know how to use it at all. At first they used fill a saucepan with tea, and pour boiling water over it to soften, and then strain it. When it would be strained everybody would get a cup or two of it. They used also put milk in it according to their fancy. Then every body would have his own vessel every day.- There are many graveyards in this part of the country and all are in use except one. The people in this parish call it the "Killineach." It is situated about a mile west of the town. It is a very old one
