    It was during this time that candles were mostly used. One would be constantly kept busy making the tallow candle as it was called, lit. This was dipped in lard and hung on a string by the fire to dry. At night time when the spinning was going on this candle showed them light. The person who attended the candles spent all his time keeping them lighted. He got a rush and dipped it in the grease and
