There is a well in Carrickavee and the people used to go to it on a May day and the first person that got the first gallon of water brought the luck home with him.
Given by Annie M Cogan - There is a well in James Lynch's field of Carrickavee and on the 14th of May every one was up at dawn to get the first gallon of water out of it. They thought it was lucky.
