hiding place while the women would get old woolen rags and put them burning in the fire so that the soldiers would not smell the whiskey.
One day a certain man did not get time to get the rags .A nest where a goose was just after being hatched chanced to be in some corner of the house. This she quickly put across the fire which filled the house with smoke .The soldiers were so disgusted that they did not come inside the door only they went away again and the woman was delighted. They drank the whiskey that night as good as ever out of the shell of a duck egg. There was a cave beyond Gortaveha mountain where they made it.- Bailitheoir
