- When the October winds begin to rustle the Hazel leaves and the frost whitens the grass the nights begin to lengthen the Hosts of the Fianna gathers about midnight in the Plains of Deri Tavrane with their wolfhounds on Leash. From the grassy pastures of Roscommon they come trooping to mingle with the Sluagh from the side of Mount Nephin. Such baying of hounds as can be heard would remind the listener of a visit to some zoological garden. At a given signal they all spread out [fan-sha?] to search for the den of the wild boar after some time a single Horn blast warns the searchers that the game has been found. Then the Hunt starts.
