  1. When I was young and fond of fun
    Like many a roaming lad
    It was my delight by day and night
    To court a comely lass.
    With her I would walk and with her I would talk
    As thousands did before
    But it was little I knew, she would prove untrue
    Young Kitty from Baltimore.
    Young Kitty was tall and slender
    And as gentle as a dove
    Ten times a day he would come and say
    With her he was in love.
    When he would say this
    They would have a kiss
    And he would love her more and more
    But alas! the day I am far away
    From you, Kitty from Baltimore.
    It was her father Frank that I might thank
    For living in this sad state
    Because I was poor he could not endure
    To marry his daughter, Kate
