  1. I lay my body down to sleep,
I pray to God my soul to keep,
And if I die before I wake,
I pray to God my soul to take.
O merciful Jesus have mercy on me,
My soul and my body I give up to Thee,
Thy five bleeding wounds, that were nailed to a tree
O, merciful Jesus, have mercy on me.
As I lie down to sleep,
    Jesus, lie down with me,
Jesus' right hand under my head,
    Jesus' bross over me,
    God for my father,
The Blessed Virvin, for my mother,
    Heaven for my bed,
    And I renounce the devil.
