    There is an old cure for a sore called 'Evil' which the seventh child of a family if they are all boys or girls in succession is supposed to be able to rub in.
    An ancient cure for mumps is to wash with moss water.
    An old cure for the toothache was to tie a piece of cord to the tooth and then tie it to the handle of a door or somewhere else and get someone to touch the point of your nose with a red hot iron.
